Metso Mineral Donates To University of Mines, Technology

This was when Metso Minerals, a global leader in the rock and minerals processing industry, presented some laboratory equipments, books and scholarships worth US$ 70,000 to the University of Mines and Technology.

The items include: Metso D12 complete flotation cell/scrubber; a Morse Model 2000 jaw crusher; a Marcy Gyroll cone crusher; a Denver vacuum filter; several Marcy pulp density scales; a Denver pulp density scale; a Denver mineral jig; accessories and copies of Mineral Processing textbooks.

Mr. Michael Wallen, vice president of the company, who made the presentation said, the items formed part of their corporate social responsibilities to support the academia.

He expressed the hope that the items would go a long way in enhancing effective teaching and learning.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Daniel Mireku-Gyimah, received the items and later handed them over to the faculty. He expressed profound gratitude to the company for the gesture and promised to ensure that the items are used for their intended purposes.

Prof Gyimah, charged the Dean of the Faculty of Mineral Resources Technology, Prof J S Kumah to take proper care and maintenance of the facilities to prolong their lifespan.
